Under Pressure: Helping Your Teen Reduce Stress and Build Resilience
with Lisa Medoff, PhD, clinical psychologist

Are you taken by surprise when your sophomore has a random explosion of temper over a seemingly innocuous topic, or when your junior decides to skip school claiming the need for a “mental health day” at home? Do you worry that your senior has been feeling so much stress it could affect her health?  Lisa Medoff, a developmental psychologist specializing in adolescent mental health, and Education Specialist at Stanford University’s School of Medicine, will address the critical issue of stress and your teen. She will reveal the myriad ways that adolescents respond to stressors and how adults, in turn, should respond to their teen’s stress. She will also discuss how we can design a calmer home and school environment for adolescents from a neurological point of view.  She will provide evidence from her private practice with adolescents and her consultations with schools and families on ways to provide optimal conditions for reducing stress and building resilience.
